screening in health care settings
There are a variety of ways that physicians or health professionals can incorporate a developmental screening into each well-baby visit. This is often done in the physician’s office or can be done in the County Health Departments as part of the WIC (Women’s Infant Children program.)
A developmental screening takes just a few minutes to complete with a simple screening form that can be filled out by parents in the doctor’s waiting room, at home before a well visit, and with the assistance of a nurse, physician, or other professional in the examination room.
In Southern Illinois developmental screening is administered in County Health Departments as part of their WIC programs (Women’s Infants & Children)
An assessment of pediatricians and other health professionals in Southern Illinois who complete developmental screenings as part of their well-baby checks has not yet been completed.
