innovation zoneWilliamson County is selected as one of Illinois’ Race-to-the-Top Early Learning Challenge Grant communities, also known as Innovation Zones. These communities have demonstrated strong leadership and established collaborative relationships aimed at promoting early childhood education for the highest needs children.
The Innovation Zones are leveraging their pre-existing early childhood programs and initiatives to plan and test creative ways to enroll children from “Priority Populations” and meet their needs through the highest quality services. |
CCR & R at John A Logan College has been coordinating Innovation Zone activities in partnership with 35 members of the Southern Illinois Coalition for Children and Families.
Evaluations of the strategies are being conducted by the University of Illinois. In addition to funding from the Federal Race to the Top grant, funding is being provided by local agencies and partners.
The Innovation Zone partners have identified four strategic goals, accomplished through activities within partner agencies and collaborative efforts by the Coalition partners through Task Force committees and embedded in our overall work.
