Teacher quality matters. Teaching quality in early education is essential to ensuring young children's school readiness. Initial teacher preparation is foundational to teacher quality. But it is just a start.
The Coalition promotes teaching excellence through the coordination of professional development offerings, facilitated collaborations between agency and program initiatives, and leveraging resources that support teaching and reflective practice. |
During the past five years, Coalition partners have worked together in a variety of initiatives to promote and support teaching excellence through teacher preparation and continuous learning of new skills and strategies.
Teacher networking and peer mentoring are just some of the collaborative strategies utilized by the Coalition to support excellence in teaching and learning across various formats. In addition, maintaining an ongoing dialogue about good teaching is done.
The Southern Illinois Coalition for Children & Families supports teacher credentialing and has introduced an initiative to help programs in meeting ExceleRate Illinois standards.
